Mayor Michael O'Connor's Remarks at the May 12 Meeting of Berwyn City Council

First of all, I just wanted to say THANK YOU to everyone for all their support during the election and the previous four years.

I can assure you this City Council has made a mark on Berwyn's history that will never be forgotten.  I think we have represented fair, open, honest, hard-working government that served the residents of Berwyn.

Our administration set the bar very high for every administration that will follow.  I am extremely proud of the efforts and successes by my staff, especially Scott Waguespack, Jeanmarie Hajer, Dawn Rinehart, Debi Suchy, Dan LeBeau, Sam Canino, Pat Segel, and Stephanie Walker.  I am also proud of the successes of this City Council:  Even though we did not always personally get along , we achieved many of the goals we set out to reach.

The hiring of Police Chief Bill Kushner set the tone for "change" both in our police department and in our community.  The hiring of experienced municipal Finance Directors and the city’s first full-time Human Resources Director has brought a professionalism to the City of Berwyn that previously had been absent.  And the creation of the new Senior Advocacy Department, now in place, should continue to provide much-needed services for our seniors.
